Why are there no shelters near me?

Red Cross shelters are temporary and do not remain open all year long. They are usually set up after a disaster.

Should you want to find out which Red Cross shelters are near you, you can do the following:

• Using the navigation at the bottom of the app, click on the 'Maps' tab. The view shows all Red Cross shelters currently open across the country.
• If there are any available Red Cross shelters, these will show as red circles with a red cross in the center
• Zoom into the map on your area and tap on the shelter closest to you
• The name of the shelter will appear
• Tap on the 'I' icon on the right, this will open a new screen showing the address, website, and phone number if these are available 
• If needed, please tap on 'Get Directions' to get directions from your current location to the shelter. This will open in a different app on your device depending on what you use for directions.
