I'm Not Receiving Alerts
We send alerts based on the location you have added and the hazard watches and warnings you have switched on.
- Make sure your location is included in the specific area of the watch/warning.
- Frequently for severe weather alerts, alerts are issued for a very specific area, called a polygon. Polygons could be small enough where they cover a specific area within one town or large enough to cover multiple counties or states. Sometimes, you may be in a state that is under an alert without receiving one yourself. This is because the part of the state you live in is not under that alert.
- In the Emergency app, check and make sure you are monitoring the hazard watch and warning
- Locations Tab
- Tap "View Location" that you are interested in checking
- Tap on the cog / wheel at the top right hand of the page
- Tap on “Set Up Alerts”
- Select hazard
- Select “Advanced Options”
- Choose specific Watch or Warning you want to receive alerts for
- Switch on for “Show Alerts, “Notify with Sound,” “Send Notifications”
- Switch on or off Critical Alerts for each Watch and Warning
- Check your device settings to make sure that notifications are enabled
- Go to your device settings
- Go to Emergency app
- Toggle on “Allow Notifications”
- Check your alert range
- Locations Tab
- Tap "View Location"
- Tap on the cog / wheel at the top right hand of the page
- You will see an “Alert Range” counter. Change to your desired range
- For earthquake alerts, check your magnitude. By default, you will not receive notifications for earthquakes lower than magnitude 4.5. You can increase or decrease this setting by following the steps below.

Tap on the “View Location" - Tap on the cog / wheel at the top right hand of the page
- Tap on "Set Up Alerts" to edit
Search for "Earthquake" - Tap “Advanced Options”
- Tap "Earthquake Warning"
- Tap "Magnitude"
- Adjust the slider for the magnitude you wish to receive earthquake alerts for
