The Emergency app sends you Watches, Advisories and Warnings that are issued by the National Weather Service/NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), and the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
You will receive alerts based on the locations you've added, the specific alerts you've enabled to send push notifications for, and whether those alerts are currently active in your monitored locations and live location (if enabled).
To ensure you are receiving the most precise alerts, monitor your live location or search via zip code when you add a location, rather than just the name of your city and state.
It is important that you enable your live location or search via zip code when you add a location to the Emergency app because severe weather alerts are often issued for specific geographic areas, known as polygons, which can vary in size. These alerts are very precise, ranging from a few blocks within a town to multiple counties.
Please note that other alerts issued can cover wider geographical areas.
If you don’t receive an expected alert, it may be because your location is outside the official alert area.
